The ASA Inter-Regional Water Polo Championships 2010 – Youth Boys
Played: 4 Won: 4 Goals For: 50 Goals Against: 19
London came top of the Youth Boys (born 1993 or later) Inter-Regional Water Polo Championships Division 2 at Walsall on 23
rd and 24
th January, gaining promotion for next year. The performance and conduct of the members of the team was a credit to their clubs and Regional Training Centres (RTCs). Several will have deservedly come into contention for selection for the Great Britain squad in which Danny Casey, the London team’s captain, is currently the region’s sole representative. It would be very good to build on the developing team and individual skills, and spirit, apparent in the preparation for the competition, and over the weekend itself. Congratulations to the team and keep up the good work!

This week Jemma Konuralp (Swim 21 Quality co-ordinator) and her maternity replacement Esther Hill were thrown into the busy period in the lead up to the next Regional Panel on 11 February 2010. Last Friday they attended a brilliant presentation evening at Orpington Ojays where it was lovely to see the success of the club over the last twelve months being celebrated so highly. On Sunday morning Jemma assessed Purley H20 at Epsom College where she was exceptionally impressed with the achievements of such a new club. Tuesday lunchtime saw Kate joining Jemma and Esther in the London Swimming office meeting with Kingston Royals for their last pre-assessment meeting which was extremely positive and finally Esther assessed Beckenham SC on Wednesday evening accompanied by Kate O’Neil (CSC for the South) where she was blown away by the impressiveness of the club.
Next week Jemma and Esther will be hard at work preparing for the Regional Panel along with meeting Sharks of Mottingham.
This week Kate O’Neill and Richard Bradford (CSC for the West), also met with SouthWest Swim School to discuss education and Swim21 for swim schools accreditation and are looking forward to working with their director in the future.
