Happy New Year to all from London Swimming
London Swimming is pleased to announce its first conference dedicated to
London’s Aquatic Workforce!
On Thursday 18th February 2010, London Swimming will host the first Aquatics Teachers, Coaches and Tutors Conference at Westminster Academy.
This exciting new conference will offer delegates the chance to hear motivational speakers, participate in workshops and network with fellow professionals. Delegates will also have the option to register for some fantastic Institute of Swimming CPD seminars, which will be offered free of charge.

POSTPHONED - Water Polo Conference - Your Sport, Help Shape the Future!
The Water Polo Conference “Your Sport – Help Shape the Future” due to take place on Sunday 17th January 2010 has been postponed. A new date will be circulated shortly.
Sports Science packages - great for the start of the new year!
There are a variety of options for clubs to choose from whether it needs to be an education session, or a more personal session such as a one to one. The sessions can be delivered to athletes and parents or coaches, at reasonable prices. On our team we have a Sports Nutritionist, Sports Psychologist, 2 Sports Physiotherapists, an Osteopath and a Strength & Conditioning Coach, all of which have worked with performance athletes ranging from County right through to Olympic standard. The ASA Swimming Teaching Conference 2010
Taking place on Thursday 4th March, the third ASA Swimming Teaching Conference will be held at the Heritage Motor Museum in Warwickshire.
The conference is particularly aimed at Swimming Teachers and Coordinators working on the delivery and improvement of school swimming.

MENCAP are holding a
Fundraising swimming challenge at the Dorney Lake in Windsor (a 2012 Olympic Venue) next summer on Sunday 25th July 2010. It is a 1 mile swim, and the minimum age for participants 16y. For more information about the Swimming Event, please contact Jacqueline Manu at

Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring Sport - 27th January onwards.
Developed in partnership with sports coach UK, and supported by SkillsActive and Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), the 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring in Sport (L3CMS) is designed to qualify coaches, match officials, those involved in sports development, outdoor education or sports students to mentor in total confidence, and give them everything they need to become a part of the education workforce legacy.
The Closing date has been extended to Friday 15th January.

This week Jemma Konuralp (Swim 21 Quality co-ordinator) had a very positive meeting with Teddington just before she was snowed in for three days! Next week she will be assessing Beckenham SC in respect of their re-accreditation and Becontree who are embarking on the swim21 pathway.
