Free Training

To become an International Paralympic Committee Swimming Classifier

London Swimming is delighted to be able to offer a free training course for one individual to become an IPC Swimming Classifier.

The successful completion of this training would ensure the individual becomes a key member of the London Swimming Disability Team. This is a volunteer position and you would need to commit to attending a classification event at least twice a year, one of which would be in London.

The training will involve:
  • 1 day induction – Ponds Forge, Sheffield – 1st November 2008
  • Completion of an on-line seminar (10-15 hours)
  • Attendance at an event where there are classifications taking place
  • Attendance at seminar & DSE Long Course, Sheffield – 12th -17th May 2009

To become a Medical Trainee you would need to be a doctor or physiotherapist, who has been practicing for a minimum of 2 years.

Alternatively you may wish to become a Technical Trainee and would need to be a qualified swimming coach. For a Technical Trainee coaching knowledge is more important than experience with disabled swimmers.

If you are interested please send a full CV to michelle.Weltman@newham.gov.uk and a note to say that you will commit to the full training programme.

The deadline is the 22nd September 2008.
