The Swimming Trust supports people who have a diverse set of needs: financial, social, educational and emotional; some have a complex mix of all of these. The Swimming Trust brings a user and needs-led focus to programme planning and delivery, providing access for some of the hardest-to-reach groups.

Many beneficiaries are those who clearly have a particular talent that has been recognised and are seeking resources to develop further. For talented young athletes and their families, the Swimming Trust provides the opportunity to develop their sport to full potential.

Others are people across the complete age range, who want to become involved in a sporting event, learn a new skill, get more active, develop their physical capabilities or become a member of a social group, but lack the resources to do so.

For vulnerable young people, many projects act as a diversionary activity. Participation in aquatic sport helps focus and challenge young minds, whilst providing information and opportunities in relation to healthy lifestyles and social skills.

Disabled beneficiaries each have individual challenges to overcome and are able to utilise the support of the Swimming Trust to that effect. The benefits of swimming are recognised as one of the best forms of therapy at one end of the scale and indeed competitive sport at the other, for those with a disability.

The Swimming Trust supports swimmers and asa members, who are in need of support due to their personal circumstances. The beneficiaries of Swimming Trust funded programmes, which essentially promote health, social development and opportunity, will find their future development improved by the support they receive. We want to ensure that everyone learning to swim or for those who are expanding their current skill, continue to benefit from participation in the sport and swimming, throughout their lifetime.
