London Summer of Sport 2008
Thanks to your support, London Summer of Sport 2007 was a huge success.
This year, sports clubs, organisations and youth and community groups can apply for grants of up to £1,000, plus receive extra training and marketing materials to make your activity even more successful. This year’s applications for funding open on 16 June through to 11 July.To play your part in this year's London Summer of Sport programme download an application form and supporting documents.
 
Bagcat Championships
The second weekend of the Bagcat Championships was very exciting and well supported.  
Once again there were Event Best Performances.
Bagcat Trophies were awarded for the whole championships.  Sean Houlihan of Romford Town not only won the 12yr Bagcat Trophy but also 9 individual events. 
Karley Mann of Hillingdon won 13yr Bagcat Trophy with 8 individual events.
George Kapanadze and Erin Nabney of Barnet Copthall who also won their Bagcat Age Groups won the Len Badcock Trophies for best Individual Swims in the 10yr Age Groups.

London Masters Swimming need to hire a central London Pool for a Masters Fun

Greenwich Leisure deadline for athlete and coach bursaries:
The GLL Foundation has launched with bursaries for athletes and coaches available for those operating from a GLL facility or GLL operated Borough. http://www.gllsportfoundation.org/default.asp The deadline for applications is the 30 June.
 
London Swimming would like to welcome 2 new members of staff to the team.
Rosa Gallop, Talent Development Officer, whose role centres around the delivery of the AASE programme for the regions apprentices. She is also responsible for the Level One & Two English National Talent Development Programme delivered locally in the two regions.
Jemma Knouralp, Swim 21 Quality Co-ordinator, whose role is to manage our Swim 21 portfolio.
 
 
Colin Brown (RD): Colin spent the week completing staff appraisals and hosting a networking session with leisure operators. Colin also met with Kate Hoey MP in her new role as Sports Commissioner for the GLA around the challenge of developing facility and aquatic strategies at a Borough and Sub-Regional level. Colin will finish the week by attending the ASA development conference.
Next week: Colin will be meeting with consultants focused on developing the overall business plan for the Aquatics Centre in Legacy mode. Colin will also be in Loughborough looking at how London's educational needs can be met in the future. Colin will be attending the London Swimming Board and completing more staff appraisals.

This week Janna Callan (RDO) has spent her time getting to grips with the Barking and Dagenham project, she has met with a number of the key people and has started to put the project plan together. Unfortunately due to illness Janna was unable to attend the ASA Conference in Loughborough.
 
Next week Janna will be presenting the project plan to the Barking and Dagenham steering group, meeting with their marketing department and presenting information to the centre managers. 
 
This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) has been on a number of training courses, broadening her general tutor knowledge, as well as adding to her aquatic knowledge.
  
This week Annabel Kehoe (EDS - Islington) has thankfully sent off her magazine to print. Annabel would like to thank the marketing team at Aquaterra Leisure for all their assistance and patience. We all look forward to seeing the response from Islington’s school children. Annabel also spent time working on her contributions to the redesign of the Swimfit website.
 
Next week, Annabel will be concentrating on collecting some initial feedback from the first customers to complete the Liquid Swim Programme.
 
Jemma Konuralp (Swim21 Quality coordinator) has spent this week analysing the Swim 21 modules and elements and deciding how she is going to assess them. Next week she is meeting with Haringey Borough Swimming Club in readiness for their Swim 21 assessment.
