Colin Brown (RD): This week has seen the announcement of 1.3 million being invested in swimming to re-dress health inequalities in Barking & Dagenham. http://www.londonswimming.org/news/article/display/322. London Swimming is tasked with managing and monitoring this high profile project which alongside Lewisham and Islington Everyday Swim Projects represent a real opportunity to change the wider perception of swimming in London.
Next week:
Colin will be completing a strategic planning exercise in advance of the launch of Sport England new strategy at the beginning of June. Colin will also be meeting the Director of Sport for Imperial College to develop links in this sector. At the end of the week Colin will be attending the London Youth Games Diving at Hornchurch in Havering.
This week Mark Griggs (EO) has catching up on outstanding admin and working with water polo and diving clubs to get courses set up in the south. He also attended the proactive south coaching workshop which included a presentation on the UK coaching framework.

Last week Janna Callan (RDO) met Edmonton Phoenix Swimming Club with Cathy Carr. Janna and Cathy assessed the club for Swim21 at Teaching and Skill Development level. Janna also met Michelle Weltman to discuss the progress of disability swimming in the host boroughs and agreed actions for the next three months.
Next week Janna will meet with Carole Barough (National Disability Manager), to understand the actions needed to be taken to develop the regional disability championship. Janna will also be feeding back to Kingston Ladies on their Swim21 audit and feeding back to Erith and District on the progress of their Swim21 application.
Cathy Carr (RDO) – This was Cathy’s last week with London Swimming, and she wishes to thank everyone for all their help & assistance during her time here.
This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) has been in Sheffield organising the World Series Legacy Schools final which ran on Wednesday with the top 4 schools out of the 13 involved. The event was a great success and the children really enjoyed themselves, as well as seeing Team GB train. Now we are preparing for the Diving World Series at the weekend. Earlier in the week Jo had a meeting regarding the National Skills Competition, and the organisation of the event. Finally Jo has been concentrating on putting together a Talent Id document for London and catching up on correspondence.
This week Annabel Kehoe (EDS-Islington) attended the Everyday Swim national network meeting with all the other coordinators. Working around this commitment, Annabel concentrated on the implementation of the Liquid Swim appointments now happening across all sites, and ensuring the smooth running of the new swimming lesson structure. Annabel also finalised the content for a swimming promotional magazine aimed at Islington school children. To conclude the week, Annabel attended the London Swimming themed day.
Next week, Annabel will continue to closely monitor the progress of Liquid Swim and the new swimming lessons, as well as begin to focus on the summer holiday programme and a social Waterpolo league.
This week Jo Melchior (EDS – Lewisham) accompanied her colleague Annabel to Loughborough. The rest of the week has been busy linking with school collaboratives to produce an option template fro primary schools to buy in to additional services provided by Everyday Swim. Jo has also been working on marketing & promotion for the upcoming opening of the new Wavelengths Tank Pool in July.
