Next week Janna will be working with Jo Calvino to assess the Barnet Copthall synchro and diving sections for Swim21.
Next week Cathy Carr (RDO) will be finalising the Aqua Extreme guide for the West region. Cathy will also be volunteering at the Manchester World Championships as a team liaison officer. Cathy is sad to announce she will be leaving London Swimming at the end of May to take up a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work in Singapore for approximately 7 months. Cathy has thoroughly enjoyed her time in London Swimming and will be sad to go.
This week’s focus for Ben Campion (Investment Manager) has been on developing the West London mini polo programme, involving meetings with several key partners. Next weeks focus will return to the Director of Swimming in Southwark position, as well attending a number of meeting while at the World Short course Championships in Manchester.
This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) finalised plans on the Talent ID launch in London with the sub-regions and completed the Awards & NPTS documentation and delivered a Flip'n'Fun CPD in
Southwark.
It's been a busy weekend for Jo Melchior which saw her assist with some Talent Spotting at the Lewisham Primary Schools gala on Friday evening, attend a Health Fair in the NDC area on Saturday, and assist her colleagues from British Gospel Arts deliver the SwimGospel pool party Sunday afternoon. It was a pleasant change to be back on poolside around people DOING swimming rather than in meetings TALKING about swimming. However back to more mundane but equally important things this week with meetings with MEND, Saxon Crown and British Gospel Arts to discuss various programmes and events. Also this week Jo will be seeing how the NDC awareness campaign is going at Wavelengths and Ladywell, as well as assisting swim co-ordinators with their upcoming holiday programmes for "Spring Break" as it now seems to be called.
Last week Annabel Kehoe (EDS - Islington) attended the Aquaterra Leisure staff day where Colin Brown was a guest speaker. During the week Annabel continued to work on launching the Liquid Swim Programme at the remaining three Aquaterra Leisure pools within Islington and ensuring that all was in place for the ASA Level 2 Teaching course that is taking place at Ironmonger Row Baths from the 5th until the 18th April.
The highlight of next week will be attending the 2008 World Short Course Swimming Championships. The Everyday Swim Project will be a key presenter at the Sports Medicine Congress that runs parallel to the Championships.
Michelle Weltman (Disability Mentor Coach) will be attending the Olympic/Paralympics trials the first week of April. This month Michelle will also be looking to continue the work started on the pathways for disabled swimmers in Newham, which includes a meeting with Newham swimming club. Michelle will also be doing mentoring with the coach in Newham who will be running their PESSCL link, and spending time mentoring the 3 swimmers who in March started their level 1 coaches course as part of the coach ability programme.
There is a London Squad session and again we have been very fortunate in that The London Borough of Tower Hamlets and GLL will continue to support the squad sessions and have offered additional time.
Michelle hopes to meet with the sports development department in Hackney, and at the end of the month will be back in Sheffield for the second Paralympics trials.
This week Ellie Purvis (IOS tutor) has been busy delivering a level 1 in Hornchurch, and a cpd in Stevenage.
