The ASA is very keen to capture information around club capacity via its on-line club questionnaire. 
 
Headline News: London Swimming has called a Special Council Meeting http://www.londonswimming.org/news/article/display/235 to consider a resolution to allow the investment into a company that manufacturers mobile pool. The meeting will take place at Southbury Leisure Centre, Southbury Road, Enfield, EN1 1YP on Sunday 16th March at 12.30 pm. All swimming clubs have been mailed with details and delegate forms. Any clubs not receiving this information can download it from our website (see above).
A strategy to get London Swimming 2008-2012+
By now all clubs should have received a printed copy of our strategy. If you would like additional printed copies then email london@swimming.org making sure you include your postal address. You can also download a copy from our homepage www.londonswimming.org
 
Colin Brown (RD) This week Colin attended a West London Sports Conference around the 2012 legacy, met with Barking & Dagenham Primary Care Trust about investing into swimming to tackle health inequalities and briefly attended the London Coaches forum. The anticipated highlight of the week will be attending the Pro-Active Sports Awards where London Swimming has been short listed for 'partner of the year'. Colin will also be attending the Special Council Meeting (see above) to consider the investment opportunity into a company that manufacturers mobile swimming pools.
Next week: Colin will be attending the Regional Directors meeting in Loughborough and interviewing for the Director of Swimming post in Southwark. From the 20-26 March Colin will be taking annual leave.
 
Last week Mark Griggs (REO) had an admin week catching up on his emails and oustanding tasks.
Mark would like to remind everyone that the 66% skills active coaching bursaries are only available until the end of March, and the criteria has changed to include those working leisure centres. This week Janna Callan (RDO) has been catching up on administration and working on the documents for the Greenwich Swimming Pathway, which are due to be released on Monday 17th March. Over the weekend Janna will be completing her level 1 synchronised swimming course.  
Next week Janna will be spending three days in Loughborough and leading some of the National RDO Swim21
 
Next week Cathy Carr (RDO) will be attending the Edmonton Leisure Centre official opening in Enfield. Cathy will be developing the borough pathway work and preparing for the Aqua Extreme forum. 
Masters - the Masters Committee are compiling a database of Masters Clubs/sections for the London Swimming website. If your club has a Masters section please contact cathy.carr@swimming.org with information. The Masters Committee will be organising a fun pre-Christmas competition and would like to encourage new people to the sport or those who do not normally compete. This will be an exciting and different event and the Committee are seeking any sponsorship opportunities. Please contact cathy.carr@swimming.org for more information and to get involved.  
 
This week’s major highlight for Ben Campion (RDO) has been meeting with Kellogg's to look at various development opportunities in and around the South of London, and discussing the potential opportunities of working with the Corporation of London. 
Next week Ben will focus on the recruitment of staff and Water Polo.
 
This week Jo Calvino (RDDO) has been finalizing PESSCL bids in London, had a meeting with Charlie Dunmore to discuss diving education and where we are at within the UKCC program. Jo attended the LOC World Diving Series meeting in Sheffield and will finish the week off chasing up NPTS work and correspondence, before going back to Sheffield for the weekend to deliver a strength and conditioning course.
 
This week has seen Jo Melchior (EDS - Lewisham) busy doing work around Schools and Young People. She spent a wonderful morning at a Sportsability Festival meeting children and Teachers from Lewisham Special Needs schools discussing the need for a participation / fun gala for children with complex needs. Jo also met with Deptford Green to organise an Aquatics programme for Key Stage 4 students and a "mop up" programme for year 7's who failed to reach National Curriculum standard whilst at Primary school. The final parts of the schools puzzle has been completed with meetings with Extended and Supplementary schools. Next week sees work on Street Surveys and an awareness campaign for the NDC area, and some planning for Easter events in the pools.
 
Last week Annabel Kehoe (EDS – Islington) worked closely with all the General Managers from Aquaterra Leisure to plan the implementation of several up and coming projects. She was also busy organising the ASA Level 1 Teaching Swimming course that is taking place at Ironmonger Row Baths over the weekend and into the week.
Next week Annabel will be taking annual leave and will return after the Easter Weekend.
