Paralympic coach to talent identify potential 2012 disability swimmers

The successful Paralympic coach Michelle Weltman has been promoted by the Newham Academy as the Sports Coach and Mentor for the Host 2012 Boroughs. This new position has weekly-dedicated time to talent identify swimmers with a disability that show potential in competitive swimming.

Michelle will be supporting the talented swimmers by assisting them in finding appropriate training, providing them with training tips and most importantly ensuring that integration into a mainstream training environment is smooth. This may involve assisting the local coaches and teachers in the Boroughs and providing them with the confidence to include and coach a disabled swimmer along side the mainstream club swimmers.

Michelle has an impressive history in coaching disability sports and this includes coaching swimmers to the Paralympic podium at Sydney and Athens.
